Examples of successful Australia writers with disability are rare (and deaf writers even more so).   Martin Edge is a visual artist whose colourful paintings depict everyday life Interview Summary Martin Edge, an artist and ambassador for Autism Queensland, has experienced a significant journey in disability arts, culminating in representation by prominent galleries and inclusion in major collections. Since starting his painting career accidentally in a TAFE course, Martin's technique has evolved from using primary colours to creating a unique palette with mixed hues, resulting in more detailed and refined works. People have responded positively to his vibrant and hopeful art, which he enjoys sharing to bring joy to others. Martin looks up to artist Ken Done, admiring Done's vivid use of colour and his contributions to Australian art even into his 80s.

The agency continues operation today. Their website describes them as follows: “Salubrious Productions is a Brisbane-based entertainment and production agency. We represent a core of more than 200 diverse acts and artists and draw further from a large network of professional artists throughout Queensland and Australia.”

  DADAA - The Lost Generation Project 2007 - reads, in part "The project was conceived from a partnership between DADAA and the WA Disability Services Commission, which began in 2002. After working on 15 small projects, the partners decided to develop a large-scale project in 2007 to continue developing arts and cultural interventions with and for people with intellectual disability living in supported accommodation across the Perth metropolitan area. • “The Australian Government announced a National Autism Strategy in 2022”
  In 2022, a National Autism Strategy was announced by the Australian Government. The Department of Social Services note that the strategy developed out of a “comprehensive co-design process.” Its objectives relate to social inclusion; economic inclusion; diagnosis, services and supports; and health and mental health. The strategy puts forth a “vision for a safe and inclusive society for all Autistic people. One where we support and empower Autistic people to thrive, in all aspects of life.”

• “Melbourne venue guides published in the 1990s”
  Arts Access Victoria published the ‘Melbourne Venue Guide: A Description of Access for People with Disabilities to Some of Melbourne's Major Entertainment Venues’ in 1992. They published an updated guide in 1998: ‘The Vic Venue Guide: A Guide to Access and Facilities at Over 75 Victorian Entertainment, Sporting and Cultural Venues’. This updated guide was produced in conjunction with VicHealth and supported by Arts Victoria. The guide provided information about where to make bookings, parking and public transport, facilities and access for disabled patrons, and seating.
