  The national cultural policy ‘Creative Australia’ was published in 2013. It was critiqued for its lack of disability arts funding and its reference to 'tolerating' disabled people. As Arts Hub reported, “By now you will have heard that the National Cultural Policy offers little for Australians with a disability. Not only is there no funding for the National Arts and Disability Strategy, but instead, the policy calls for a culture of tolerance towards people with a disability.”

  Creative Australia’s National Arts and Disability Awards were first awarded to their inaugural recipients in 2019. The three awards go to an emerging or early career artist, and established artist, and someone who’s proven themselves as a leader in disability arts. From 2019 to 2023, the recipients span across artforms and the country.

  In 1947, “Memoirs of Tilly Aston: Australia's Blind Poet Author and Philanthropist” was published. “Memoirs of Tilly Aston” is an autobiography by Mathilda Ann Aston who was the first blind person in Australia to go to university. Aston founded the Victorian Association of Braille Writers and the Association for the Advancement of the Blind.

• "DADAA - The Proper Shoes - Radio Play 2007"
  DADAA - 'The Proper Shoes' Radio Play 2007 - reads, in part "In 2005 & 2006 DADAA Inc worked in partnership with ABC radio to develop "The Proper Shoes", a radio play to be broadcast nationally. In 2005 & 2006 DADAA Inc worked in partnership with ABC radio to develop "The Proper Shoes", a radio play to be broadcast nationally.  In 2007 DADAA Inc has been invited to take a reworking of Proper Shoes to be part of TRASNA Festival of Inclusive Theatre.  The Proper Shoes will be broadcast in Callan, Kilkenny Ireland with a live site specific component developed to extend the work from its previous incarnation. The festival runs from 26th - 28th Oct 07 with two production staff and two performers attending and devising the work for the festival."

  DADAA - The Lost Generation Project 2007 - reads, in part "The project was conceived from a partnership between DADAA and the WA Disability Services Commission, which began in 2002. After working on 15 small projects, the partners decided to develop a large-scale project in 2007 to continue developing arts and cultural interventions with and for people with intellectual disability living in supported accommodation across the Perth metropolitan area.   Alan Marshall wrote 'I Can Jump Puddles' in 1955., the first in a series of works about growing up with a disability. The subsquent books were 'This Is the Grass' (1962), 'In Mine Own Heart' (1963), and 'Hammers Over the Anvil' (1975). Marshall contracted polio at age six and became physically disabled.
